Loving Lately - Summer Favorites (with a peak into Fall)

Hey friends! It’s been a while since I last wrote a 'Loving Lately' post (back in January), and I’m super excited to share with you all the things that have brought me joy lately. This time, it’s all about the things that have been speaking to MY heart—just for ME, no items for kids or husband in this one. I've got quite a list, from entertainment to planning, books, fashion, and even some yummy-smelling candles. So grab your favorite drink, get comfy, and let’s dive in!

Entertainment: Music and Movies That Made My Summer

Lately, my playlist has been all about Zac Bryan’s new album, Pink Skies. We had it on repeat during our summer RV road trip, and now, every time I hear it, I’m instantly transported back to those fun, carefree days. Music has such a way of connecting with our memories, doesn’t it? There are a few “iffy” words in some of his songs, but nothing too over-the-top.

I’ve also been really enjoying Josiah Queen’s worship music. His acoustic, indie vibe is so refreshing and perfect for those quiet moments when you just want to unwind and let your soul be soothed.

On the movie front, my youngest daughter and I recently watched Inside Out 2, and it couldn’t have been more timely. The movie's portrayal of preteen emotions is spot-on and sparked some meaningful conversations between us. This movie is a must-watch if you’re navigating the preteen years with your kids.

Planning and Organization: Tools That Keep Me On Track

After experimenting with a different planner last year, I returned to my trusted Erin Condren planner. I’ve been using this planner for about ten years, and in my opinion, nothing else compares. I opted for the vertical daily layout (like I have in the past), which breaks the day into morning, afternoon, and evening sections, and it’s been beneficial for keeping me organized. The different cover designs and personalization options are always fun, but it’s the planner’s functionality that truly keeps me hooked. It’s been a game-changer, especially when it comes to managing our busy family schedule.

Of course, having the right tools makes planning even more enjoyable. I’ve been absolutely loving these pens lately—they write so smoothly and make planning feel even more satisfying. There’s something about having great pens that just makes you want to get things done.

To simplify meal planning, I tried a 3-month meal plan from my friend Ashley over at Vanilla Tulip. Like many of you, I tire of figuring out what’s for dinner every night. While I’ve made some adjustments (we don’t eat seafood or pork chops), this meal plan has been a lifesaver in helping me break out of our usual dinner routine. If you’re looking for a way to simplify your meal planning, I highly recommend trying this.

Books: Current Reads and Favorite Finds

I’ve been diving into some fascinating reads lately. The first one is Elvis and Me by Priscilla Presley. I picked it up after watching the movie Priscilla during a flight earlier this year. The book offers a captivating look into Elvis’s life and the complexities of their relationship. It’s geared toward older teens and adults due to its mature content, but it's a must-read if you’re an Elvis fan.

Next, I’ve been engrossed in Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance. This memoir, written before Vance’s political career, provides a compelling and often heartbreaking look into his life and the struggles of growing up in a challenging environment. It’s a powerful read that resonates deeply, especially if you’ve faced similar difficulties.

For my fellow homeschooling moms, I’ve been loving Hope for Your Homeschool by September McCarthy. This book has encouraged mamas with children of all ages; for me, the section regarding older children has been particularly helpful. It’s packed with practical advice and heartfelt stories that are incredibly uplifting. If you’re homeschooling or even thinking about it, this book is a true gem.

I also have to give a shout-out to the Learning Well Journal. I’m thrilled to be a featured writer in the fall issue. It’s not just about my article, though; the whole journal is a fantastic resource that offers so much encouragement to homeschool moms. It’s a beautiful way to stay motivated and organized, and it’s been brightening my day each time I see it on my coffee table.

Style & Beauty Finds: Fashion, Accessories, and Beauty Essentials

Recently, I refreshed my closet, and it’s been so much fun. Updating my wardrobe has been a great way to reflect my personal growth and evolving style. It’s incredible how just a few new pieces can make you feel much more confident and put together.

I added trendy items to my closet, like a cute denim vest, some Carly Jean Los Angeles dresses, and overalls that are perfect for the changing seasons. My striped tee has also been a favorite—definitely size up for a more relaxed fit. Plus, I’m still obsessed with my Elevated Faith sweatshirt; it’s so cozy and meaningful.

In addition to updating my wardrobe, I've been loving some fantastic beauty and fashion finds. For makeup, I’m obsessed with the best beauty blenders that make applying foundation a breeze. I’ve also added some simple jewelry to my collection, including a lovely letter A necklace that I can’t stop wearing. My new purse strap and brown purse have also been game-changers for my outfits. Plus, my new Adidas Sambas are just a classic staple!

I've also fallen for the Soul de Janeiro fragrances. Their scents are divine, adding a touch of luxury to my daily routine. I can’t get enough of their rich, captivating fragrances that make me feel pampered and refreshed. Not to mention, my husband tends to hang around when I wear them, so I’m not the only one that approves.

Refreshing my wardrobe and beauty routine with these finds has been a joy.

Cozy Home Essentials: Candles and More

As we transition into fall, I’ve been all about creating a warm and inviting atmosphere at home. One of my favorite ways to do that is with the incredible fall scents from Antique Candle Co. Their pumpkin-flavored candles have filled our home with the most delightful aromas, making everything feel cozy and comforting. There’s just something about lighting a candle that instantly elevates the mood of a room.

But it’s not just about the scents—I’ve also been loving my Fall Stanley Cup. It’s been my go-to for staying hydrated throughout the day, and I love how its seasonal design perfectly complements the autumn vibes. It’s practical, stylish, and a little touch of fall that I can carry with me wherever I go.

These little touches will make my home feel extra special as we move into the cooler months. Creating a cozy space is one of my favorite parts of the season, and these finds have been vital in making it happen.
