Easter Traditions: Faith and Family
Easter is that special time of renewal—a moment when our hearts and homes are filled with hope, laughter, and the reminder of our risen Savior’s incredible victory over death. Over the years, our family’s Easter traditions have evolved, reflecting both the growth of our children and the deepening of our faith. Here’s a glimpse into how we celebrate a day that means so much to us.
From Resurrection Eggs to Deeper Reflections
When my kids were younger, one of our most cherished traditions was using Resurrection eggs in the days leading up to Easter. With its symbolic surprise, each egg sparked conversations about Jesus’ journey and the true meaning behind Easter. Those precious moments weren’t just about play—they were about planting seeds of faith in little hearts.
Now, with older kids who can engage more deeply, we take a slightly different approach. Instead of the playful surprises of those eggs, we spend time reading and reflecting on the events that led up to the resurrection. I find such joy in having these deeper conversations with my teens. It’s a time to really prepare our hearts for the celebration ahead, remembering with joy that DEATH HAS NO STING!
A special surprise on Easter Morning

Our family service at church starts at 9 AM, and it’s truly our favorite service of the year. We dress up a little extra on Easter, and I always try to capture a family photo—a keepsake I cherish.
Gathering with Extended Family
After church, the celebration shifts into a brunch with our extended family. Once we’re home and have changed into comfy clothes, then another round of fun begins: my brother, sister-in-law, nephews, and niece fill the house, and we kick off an Easter egg hunt for them. Meanwhile, Jake and I channel our inner chefs and whip up a fancy meal, often trying to dine outside when the weather is on our side.
We also carve out time to set a beautifully decorated spring table—a project that my girls adore, especially when it comes to crafting their special desserts. And no Easter is complete without a little extra love: I never miss the chance to gift my nephews and niece their own Easter baskets. It brings me such joy to see the excited smiles on their faces.

Easter in our family isn’t about extravagance—it’s about the simple, meaningful moments that remind us of His unfailing love and the hope of new beginnings. As we pray, fellowship, and share a delicious meal together, we celebrate a risen Savior who fills our lives with redemption and grace.
